The first harvest sold was the 2002 vintage under the brands of El Nido and Clio. In the 2009 campaign, we made the first harvest of Corteo, supplementing the current range of wines from Bodegas El Nido. The winery is placed in the Valley of the Aragona, 10 kilometers north of the town of Jumilla, in the \"top boundary\", so named because it is the highest altitude in the municipality. The vineyards, located in the surrounding of the winery are planted on soils mostly of limestone and very stony surface. In the basement, about 30\/40 cm. depth is a layer of coarse (medium consistency limestone) that covers the entire vineyard; its thickness ranges between 15 and 30 cm, having under a very sandy soil where the roots extend. The altitude varies from 700 m. and 850 m. above the sea level. For two generations, the grapes were sold on the bulk market. In 1988, current proprietor José Moro Espinosa invested the family’s entire savings into winery equipment and Bodegas Emilio Moro was born. The bodega joined the D.O. Ribera del Duero in 1989 and quickly established itself as one of the region’s leading producers of top quality wines.
